Geocache Description:

Baginbun Head, County Wexford.

The Anglo-Norman invasion of Ireland began at Baginbun when they landed here in 1169. They chose this headland for a number of reasons. It already had old fortifications, a freshwater spring and a good cove for anchoring ships. It was also close to Waterford Harbour which they needed to control for the next part of their campaign.

I have provided coordinates below for access to good parking which is not too far from the cache site along the cliff tops.

WARNING - parts of the trail leading to the cache site are very close to the cliff edge. Don't get too close or gravity might get the better of you. Also don't risk it once darkness sets in.

The cache is a small camouflaged canister. BYOP.
