If you found yourself outside the palisade 150 years ago, you might not come back... It's much less dangerous now, and the town name (Palisade) may refer to the nearby cliffs that line the river valley and not a defensive wall. You may need to do some hill climbing to get to the cache, but it is definitely on the public side of the fence!
