Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions
in our disclaimer.
A flash mob is a very brief gathering of people, in this case geocachers, which lasts only 15 minutes, not one second longer!! Geocachers all over the world –on this exact day- will be participating in similar events. Let’s see how many people we can add to the worldwide total!
There’s “snow” place like Pittsburgh to
participate in WWFM V!
What: SNOW in Pittsburgh in May!?!
Where: Station Square, Bessemer Court
When: May 2, 2009, 10 AM sharp (according
to GPS clock)
Since western PA is well above average for snowfall and precipitation this winter, make sure to put a snowball (or two, or ten) in your freezer for our Flash Mob in May. How you bring the snowballs to the event is your business, just make sure to hide them until 10 AM when the Flash Mob starts. Try not to bring coolers that are big or bulky to the Flash Mob, leave them in the car if possible. I know the snowballs will melt a bit, but…. be creative and subtle! If there’s a will, there’s a way! Even of you don’t have a snowball to throw, come on down to be part of our mob!
Flash Mob Schedule for Participants
9:45 - 9:59
Participants: Mill about and mosey. Be nonchalant and casual. Look like a muggle. Don't look like a gathering waiting to happen. Mosey as realistically as you can. This is part of the fun. We will seem to appear out of nowhere.
10:00
Mothramom will walk to ground zero and open an umbrella. This is the signal that the event has begun!
Make sure to get your WWFM bag containing log sheet, schedule, and official meal at the start of the event!
10:00 - 10:06
Participants: Mingle. Share stories. Put filled logs in the log box and swap coins and TBs. SNOW BALL TOSS!! Toss those snowballs (gently!!). Please do not hit local businesses or innocent bystanders, PLEASE!!
Your log slip MUST be in the box to claim this event.
10:06
Participants: Time for official meal. Unwrap the Hershey Kiss in your bag and enjoy. Make sure to CITO your foil wrappers.
10:08
Participants: Go over to the photo area in front of fountain and assemble FAST. Listen to the photographer for directions.
10:12
Participants: Listen for the raffle drawings. There will be a number on the outside of your bag that you receive at the beginning of the event. We will be calling these numbers during the raffle, so save your bag.
10:14
One minute warning is called "It is now 9:14!"
Participants: Prep to leave, but don't "look" like you are prepping. (You might want to "secretly" organize where you will re-form after dispersal.)
10:15 EXACTLY
Participants: Wait for it ... then LEAVE the area (right at 10:15 in a disorderly manner / different directions) and meet elsewhere if desired. We want to clear the video taping area (we will continue to tape for a minute or so) to show us "vacate".
The log sheet collection box will be packed up and sealed.
We will leave the area to go ... elsewhere.
