Geocache Description:

The cache is not at the posted coordinates.

When I first tried to solve cachbefound's Pie Filling, my brain really wanted the solution to be found by entirely the wrong method. I eventually whacked my brain cells into seeing the correct method, but they were so stuck on that other idea that I had to make a new puzzle to keep them happy. After all, the Bay Area can't possible have enough pie puzzles.

I decided to duplicate cachbefound's mother's recipe where I could, but I couldn't find any square pie pans, so I had to settle for a rectangular one. I also wanted to make it a gooseberry pie (my favorite), but I couldn't find any gooseberry pie filling, so I decided to go with cherry. That certainly matches the cherry orchards which used to fill this area of Sunnyvale. Although the crust is, of course, very important, I am always careful to use top quality filling. I think that every bit of the filling is important, too.

After a few test pies, I discovered the problem with rectangular pie pans is that the crust tends to get over-cooked in the corners. I've concluded that pies just naturally want to be round.
