Cache em if you can #8 - Grace Dieu Woods
This was originally cache number 8 (of 10 plus a bonus) in the emCache series promoting geocaching in the East Midlands.
The cache is hidden in an area of mixed woodland within the National Forest that was planted in 1995 and is now well established.
The new woodland is bordered by two areas of SSSI; Grace Dieu ancient forest and Cademan Woods, the underlying rocks here are among the oldest in the country. The cache is not within the SSSI.
Most of the surrounding area is open for public access with many walking paths and the Sustrans cycle trail 52 passing through.
Parking is available at Thringstone Green or at the Bulls Head PH where a pleasant walk (about 15 minutes) can be enjoyed through the woods although the area can be muddy.
The woodland is particularly lovely at Bluebell time.
