Geocache Description:

A short circular walk to the East of the village of Torphins.

This is a re-set of the previous "It's a quacker" cache, It is named after the ducks that inhabit a nearby pond that was re-created in 2002. The pond itself feeds a lead to an old mill, where you can still see the remains of the old wheel. As well as a variety of ducks (numbers depend on the successful hunting by local foxes!) there is a pair of swans that have successfully raised a number of signets over the last few years. The pond is private property but can easily be viewed from the road.

Suggested parking would be in William Street or Monboddo Road, which are just off the road North from The Square in the centre of Torphins. The walk can be completed in either direction. Clockwise, head North along Woodside Road to the end of Monboddo Road, the turn East along a path which takes you over a small bridge. At the head of the path, turn right past the pond. This is a public road, but traffic is very limited. Follow this road until it takes you back to East side of the village. You will pass through a haulage yard, where caution is required.

Buggy access is available, but if planning to complete the full circular walk, a strong stoller type is required for a element of the walk.

The cache itself is just off the above route.
