The Mystic Chapel Traditional Cache

Through this cache we just want to share with all of you one really
extraordinary place. Our trip was inspired by the final episode of
2008’s “Psychic Challenge” ("Yasnovidci") TV show, which was filmed
at this so uncommon scenery. Realizing where exactly the scenes
were shot, our trip to “Pchelina” dam was added in our “must go”
list, waiting to be done till we get there last weekend.
The “Pchelina” dam is situated at approx 60 km south-western from
Sofia. It is highly picturesque artificial lake, which as we know
has been build to filtrate and detain unleashed into Struma river
industrial pollutions made from Pernik & Radomir
factories.
Its western part is easy accessible and urbanized but eastern one
is still untouched.
There is over 150 meters high sheer cliff, jutted out in the water.
A small snow-white chapel named to St. John rises at the top of
this huge rock. Build in remote 1350 it is still in being and makes
the place even more mysterious and spiritual. Reaching top the rock
and standing at its edge you will be awarded with astonishing view
in all directions around - the still water with clouds mirrored on
it, all the hills roundabout and the whole peace and calmness of
the nature.
You can stay there for long, just looking around and finally will
go really recharged.
Go there, feel the unique atmosphere and enjoy the whole beauty of
this amazing piece of Bulgarian history and nature.

The place is practically reachable by car, but in case of recent
rain it will be difficult to overcome the deep and sticky mud on
the last steep part of the unpaved road leading to the hill. You
have to pass through village of “Potsurentsi”, and following the
ascending road will reach the place where the asphalt pavement
ends. There you have to keep at right fork of the road till
reaching a small unnamed village quarter, passing through it and
just afterwards the road became to descent and will lead you to the
park place.
