Geocache Description:

THERE IS NO NEED TO GO ON THE ENBANKMENT!!! Your feet can stay on level ground. This is a log only cache and you will need to BYOP. This park is new. There is a small parking lot, and information board, and a few trails. You won't have to go far.

For nearly seventy years, Scio Village was home to hundreds of residents. Though milling was central to Scio Village many other businesses flourished including a saloon, hotel, and a brewey. A schoolhouse, post office, and railroad shop also served the small community.Because of the site's sharp drop in elevation along the Huron River, it was ideal for milling.The sound of gears turning and belts clanking drove the milling industry from 1931 to 1904.Saumuel Foster 1834 contructs a three story flour mill on property 25 yards east of the sawmill.Michigan Central Railroad 1841 completes line from Detroit to Dexter, which includes a stop in Scio Village.Scio Village a ghost town 1910, twenty residents remain.2005 the property was purchased by Washtenaw County Parks.
