Geocache Description:

This cache is located in Dorey Park near the disc golf course. If people are playing nearby, they will see you. Be aware of your surroundings and use stealth if necessary.

After seeing the 2008 Cachemas cookie recipe and then running into a long string of DNFs shortly thereafter, I started wondering what ingredients make up a DNF (assuming a cache is where it's intended to be). The two extremes I came up with are given below. Did I use one of these or something in between when I placed this cache???

Recipe 1

  • a dash of deception
  • 1 extremely well camouflaged container in a non-obvious location
  • 1 clever hint that's almost like a puzzle and eventually provides insight
  • 3 different measurements taken for the coordinates
  • 100 data point average for each measurement
  • 101 possible hiding spots near ground zero

Recipe 2

  • 0 indication of what the container size could be
  • 1 wordy cache page with little useful or interesting information
  • 1 single measurement for establishing cache coordinates (while jogging through ground zero)
  • 2 long, useless encrypted hints like "Jung, lbh jnag n uvag? Abguvat qbvat, ohqql!" and "Whfg jung jrer lbh ubcvat gb svaq ol qrpelcgvat guvf? Gurer vf ab uvag. Vg'f n grfg bs fxvyy, novyvgl naq crefrirenapr!"
  • 2 erroneous ratings for difficulty and terrain
  • 999,999 places in the woods where a nano (or pico, or even a femto) could be hidden
