Geocache Description:

This is an all micro multi. I suggest, but do not require, that cachers visit Cliff Notes - Purple or Cliff Notes - Green, and do either Rufus Cache or Rocks and Hills Multi as warm ups for this one. This ain't no shorts and sandals walk in the park.

It's called "Red" for a few reasons. First it is Red in color. Red means stop. After you find it you may stop tripping over rocks. You may stop pushing through saplings and briars. You may stop sliding on wet leaves. You may stop climbing rocky slopes. You may stop eating cobwebs. You may stop cursing edscott. Hopefully any bleeding from briar scratches or rock scrapes has already stopped since the last few hundred yards are relatively tame.

However you might not stop wondering where you are, how to get back to the car, or whether you'll be home before daylight tomorrow. Red could also be associated with a typical "red" level Orienteering course. The cache is just about equivalent to half a Red course except that you are allowed to use a GPS!!!!

(There is now another multi to take you back to the car. Check out GC2RBVK. Click on "related web page" above)

I've designed it to use the new parking area that is near the junction of Rt 345 and Shed Road. You will be off trail just about the entire way to the final stage, a straight line distance of about 1.6 miles one way. Your mileage may vary. DCNR approved this cache All the preliminary stages are hidden in the same manner. Once you get the first one you will know what to look for. It is really the navigation to GZ, not the search once you get there, that is the biggest challenge. If you have have already found either Rocks and Hills Multi or Rufus Cache be aware that these are both physically easier than Cliff Notes - Red so judge your time accordingly. Some extra information: The stages and the final are now Gorilla Glued into place to prevent them rolling out onto the ground. Just unscrew the top, remove and copy the next coordinates, and be sure to put the coordinates paper back in and close it tight enough to keep things dry. Stages 1 through 3 are on vertical features and stage 4 is similar, but horizontal. All stages should be easy to spot if you are close. FYI stage #1 is Purple, #2 is Purple, #3 is White, and #4 is Green.. of course the final is Red. Since stage 4 seems to be the toughest stage I've added a photo. It is a real spoiler so treat it accordingly.
