Geocache Description:


This is the heart of the only place in the world where Lake County Diamonds can be found.

Lake County Diamonds were formed in the volcanic explosion that eventually became Clear Lake. Although Lake County Diamonds are not as hard as other diamonds, they are about an 8 on the Mohs scale and will cut glass. They also can be faceted into jewels.

Do not trespass in the surrounding vineyards, but the county road is public property. Just take a walk down the dirt road and you can find dozens of them. Please take only a few, leave more for others to find.

P.S. These are not Herkimer Diamonds- those are only found in New York.
