The Gibbsboro - Lucaston Horse Car Railroad
This picture taken around 1910, shows the horse drawn trolley
that ran on the rail line spur along United States Avenue, between
Gibbsboro and Lucaston. The rail spur was constructed in 1887,
connecting the paint works with the main Camden to Atlantic
Railroad line at Trout Run (Lucaston). The horse car trolleys
shuttled workers to the John L. Lucas & Company paint works,
located in Gibbsboro, and provided a connecting passenger service
to trains from Camden and Atlantic City. Camden & Atlantic
locomotives also used this rail spur to haul freight to and from
the paint works.
