Geocache Description:

This Cache is the 30th in the BC Spirit Quest - a series of caches dedicated to the Pioneers of BC. Each cache is hidden NEAR BUT NEVER IN a cemetery of historical significance. Much can be learned from visiting and showing respect to our predecessors. Feel free to post information found or photos (but not spoilers) of interesting stones or other features in the cemetery.
The Cemetery:
Featuring an amazing view of the Golden Ears Mountains in the distance, the Murrayville Cemetery is a beautiful, and relatively unknown, final resting place for many of Langley’s pioneers. It has the unique distinction of having the oldest headstone predate the cemetery’s establishment.
The Pioneers:
Many of the area’s pioneers are buried here including, of course, the Murray family, after whom Murrayville is named.
Paul Murray and his three sons came to this area, via New York, Panama, San Francisco, Victoria, New Westminster and finally Fort Langley. After arriving at the Fort they travelled South to what is now known as Murrayville. Deciding on some land at the top of the hill with a view of the valley and the mountains, they began the arduous task of establishing a home and an existence. Felling a enormous, old growth fir, they used it to make a lean-to. Their very crude shelter wasn’t much but they made sure it had beds. It was at this time that Paul sent for his wife, Lucy, and three daughters. With true pioneer spirit the women of the family proceeded to make the lean-to into a home. Lucy bought 2 milk cows from the Hudson’s Bay Company and got some chickens and turkeys from the local natives in the area. The Murray family lived in these primitive quarters for three years while they cleared the land and built a house.
During this time Paul’s sons, John, Bill and Alexander worked with William Vannetta and Alexander Murchison on improving the Yale Wagon trail. (currently Old Yale Road and 48th Avenue.) Paul and his sons also were involved in construction of other buildings, in order to increase commerce in the area. Bill Murray built the “Murray House” which came to be known as The Travellers Hotel and the area became known as Murray's Corners. Recently the Travellers Hotel has been restored as the Princess & the Pea Bed & Breakfast.
The Cache:
When you first arrive at the co-ordinates look for the date that Murrayville Cemetery was established.
Let this equal ABCA.

Now take a look around... there are many other family names that are part of Langley’s history including Berry, Porter and Bell. While you’re exploring try and locate the Murray family headstone. This large headstone was placed in Murrayville Cemetery to commemorate the Murray family including Alexander, who drowned while trying to save a friend during a boating accident on the Fraser River. On this headstone, under Paul Murray’s name is a Bible verse from 2 Timothy. Here you will get the rest of your clues for the final co-ordinates.

1. How many words start with the letter F? = D
2. How many times is the word “have” used? = E
3. How many letters in the 10th word? = F
4. How many times is the word “me” used? = G
5. How many letters in the last word? = H
6. Add together the letters in the 14th & 15th words. = I

When I read this verse I was amazed at how fitting it was.... summing up the life of a true pioneer.

You will find the cache at North DC GH.GIG West AFF EI.IBG
