Geocache Description:

These coordinates will take you to a quiet park with picnic tables, benches and a beautiful view of St. Andrew Bay where you will find a nearby historic marker that will tell a story about the War Between the States.

CONGRATULATIONS to Tigerrag24 for FTF!

This historic marker sign was erected by the Sons of Confederate Veterans Camp 131D.
The St. Andrew Bay Saltworks played an important role in the War Between the States. It operated between 1A61 and 1865. During that time, salt was the primary way to preserve food for the Army. It was so precious that it sold for $E0 per bushel. A bushel of salt, coarse, weighed 50 to 70 pounds. Assaults on the Saltworks began in August, 186B and led to the destruction of more than 2C0 salt making operations. Each time the salt producing fireplaces and metal boiling pots were rebuilt, and the Confederacy was supplied with salt from our area through 1865.

Read the information on the sign and use the information to find the proper coordinates.
