Yugi-Oh Letterbox Letterbox Hybrid

This cache has been archived.

EFHutton: Ok.....enough green fingers for now. I must say, I got a real kick out of putting my own brand of "stamp" on those who found this letterbox hybrid. I am archiving this cache to make room for others to place a cache. Thanks to all those that found it and took away some green ink.

Geocache Description:

This is my first Letterbox-Hybrid cache. It is about a third of a mile walk, round trip, and is not wheelchair accessible. The size of the cache is a small, round, cammoed loc-n-loc container covered with leaves. There is no real theme with this cache. I named it Yugi-Oh because that is the stamp that I found to be used for your logbook.
6/26/2010: That stamp is no longer in the cache. The name is the same to protect the innocent.

You are going to need to use a GPSr along with the clues to find this letterbox-hybrid cache, so I have supplied you with the coords for the START (posted coordinates at the top of the page) and the coords for the FINAL (in additional waypoints). Parking should be available near the entrance of the the park, close to the posted START coordinates. Please respect the foliage and obey the park rules regarding times it is open (4AM to 11:30PM). It is not recommended that this cache be done at night due to the potential for injury in the dark. Watch out for slippery mud and prickly bushes.

* The hunt begins at the western entrance to Promontory Point, north of NE 61st Street on 65th Ave NE. Bikes are not allowed and the area is not an "off-leash" area for dogs. If you find yourself needing to climb a big, steep hill to get to the cache, you have gone the wrong way and will need to go back to the start and follow the directions more carefully. Please do NOT climb the big, steep hill anyway. It is very dangerous and will destroy the plants living there.

* Once inside the fenced area at the entrance, go south. (not towards the stairs to the left) You should be going up a slight incline.

* Continue south on the trail as far as it goes and around the curve to the left, past the three posts. You will be heading east after going around the posts.

* After walking a little ways you will notice a green plaque on a short post on the left. It refers to a type of plant nearby. You may see more of these plants in the area.

* Continue walking east, taking notice of the other green plaques along the trail which show different kinds of plants nearby.

* On the right, you may notice a plaque which refers to the facial hair of a vegetation-eating animal. I thought that one was funny, but you will still need to continue east on the wide path.

* If you notice that you have found the “Himalayas”, then you have gone too far. (Don't worry, you don't have to walk all the way to the Himalayas!) Take a few steps backwards and look to your left.

* You will see an uphill path to the north. Start up that path, but keep an eye to the left.

* The first path to the left (westward) on the uphill path is the one that you want to take.

* Go under the “leaning” tree.

* Go down, then up and step over the fallen tree.

* Go right (north) at the next path. There is a short holly bush on the left about 15 feet from your last turn.

* Take a left turn, down a small path at the holly bush and head west again. Follow the curvy, small path to a cluster of trees at the end. CAUTION! There is a very steep dropoff on the other side of the cluster of trees, so BE CAREFUL! Stay on the path!

*At this point it is time to look at your GPSr for the final coordinates. You should be getting very close by now. The coordinates for this location are listed on the cache page. Look for a typical hide location. The cache is covered with leaves.

* For those who have never done a Letterbox or Letterbox-Hybrid, what you do next is simple. Letterboxers have a letterbox logbook of their own (kinda like a passport) and they stamp the cache's letterbox stamp on their logbook. Then they stamp THEIR letterbox stamp on the logbook in the cache. If you don't have your own logbook or stamp, you can write your cacher name (just like a normal geocache) and the date on the cache's logbook and call it good. If there are trackables or swag, treat them just like a normal cache. (If you take something, leave something.)

I hope you enjoyed my first Letterbox-Hybrid!

Please rehide the cache very well. There are many muggle kids that play in this area and could easily find it if it is not hidden from view. They were playing there when I placed this cache, although they did not see me place the container. Please keep an eye out for muggles while hunting this cache. There isn't room for a pen inside the cache, so please bring your own.

Please do NOT take the stamp or the inkpad inside the cache. They are for marking YOUR letterboxing logbook (if you have one) and are NOT trade items. If you do not have a stamp to mark the cache logbook, you are welcome to just sign your geocaching name and the date. This is a letterbox-hybrid and is accessible to geocachers for the reason of introducing letterboxing to geocachers who are not aware of this aspect of the sport.

A BIG congratulations to CTB Cache for their first FTF! I'm glad you enjoyed it!
