Geocache Description:

This cache is part of a series laid out around an easy 2 or 3 mile trail, which will lead you through mixed woodland along both dirt paths and gravel roads, with a little bush-wacking thrown in.

The co-ordinates given at the top of this cache page are false.
The true location of this cache can be found in Sheepdog Trials – Rooting out the truth.

The Sheepdog Trial series has been laid out to demonstrate that a multi-cache series need not consist solely of micro and small containers. There are NO film canisters or pill boxes used, and most of the caches are ammo boxes or even larger containers.

The intention is to promote a return to traditional caching values, whereby a large well stocked container is carefully and thoughtfully hidden. Each of the caches will, hopefully, stand as a decent cache in its own right. Cachers who expect to follow a clearly defined trail and find a film canister tucked under a stone, or in a hedge, every 0.1 miles will be disappointed.

In order to obtain the correct location of the various caches in this series, it is necessary to visit them in the following order.

Sheepdog Trials – Opening statement
Sheepdog Trials – Cross examination
Sheepdog Trials – Oiling the wheels of justice
Sheepdog Trials -- Defence
Sheepdog Trials – An upright citizen
Sheepdog Trials – Rooting out the truth
Sheepdog Trials -- Perjury
Sheepdog Trials – Foreman of the jury

The trail needs to be followed in this sequence because, after the first cache, the location of each cache is to be found written down in the preceding cache.
Those of you who are familiar with my sense of humour, may note a connection between the name of the cache and its location.

There is heavy tree cover in much of this area, which can cause problems with GPS reception. When placing the caches, I used two separate GPS devices, and averaged a total of 12 readings for each location. Please let me know whether any amendments need to be made.
