Geocache Description:

This cache is one in a series about the Battle of Marianna.

This is located in the very historic St. Luke's Episcopal Church Cemetery. There is convenient parking in the rear.

A skirmish in the civil war Battle of Marianna happened in this area.

Among the injured of the battle was Thaddeus Hentz who was shot near his mother's grave. His mother Caroline Lee Hentz was a novelist and author and a major literary figure in her day. Her most famous book was "The Planter's Northern Bride" which was the rebuttal to the book "Uncle Toms Cabin".

Also of note (among others) is the grave site of the fifth governor of Florida who served during the civil war, John Milton.

Coordinates for these graves sites as well as a historic sign about this location/event and for parking are listed as additional waypoints for this cache.

If you're a history buff, look these up on the internet for a lot more interesting reading.

DO NOT SEARCH FOR THIS CACHE AFTER DARK! Please respectful of this area and where you walk. Cache placed with permission of the church.
