Mnemonics? Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

Dalesman: This cache has been in need of care and maintenance for some time and as the owner has not responded to my note I am archiving it.

Guidelines:**You are responsible for occasional visits to your cache to maintain proper working order, especially when someone reports a problem with the cache (missing, damaged, wet, etc.). You may temporarily disable your cache to let others know not to search for it until you have a chance to fix the problem. This feature is to allow you a reasonable amount of time - normally a few weeks - in which to check on your cache. If a cache is not being maintained, or has been temporarily disabled for an unreasonable length of time, we may archive the listing.**

If you wish to contact me about this cache please use my Email address below my signature and quote the GC number of the cache. Please note this system is not infallible and I may miss any such mail.

Many thanks,

Mnemonics

A mnemonic is a memory helper, a little aid in remembering those things we easily forget. Usually, a mnemonic consists of a little poem or word that helps a person to remember something, like a list. Derived from the name of the Greek Godess of memory, Mnemosyne, mnemonics relies upon the principle that we remember something more easily if it is humerous or spatial or surprising, rather than a general list. Below are a few examples. I'm sure you can make some up that are relevant to you.

Example 1 - Naming the Planets.

My Very Easy Method Just Speeds Up Naming Planets = (M))ercury, (V)enus, (E)arth, (M)ars, (J)upiter, (S)aturn, (U)ranus, (N)eptune, (P)luto*

Example 2 - Colours of the Rainbow.

Richard Of York Gave Battle In Vain = (R)ed, (O)range, (Y)ellow, (G)reen, (B)lue, (I)ndigo, (V)iolet.

Example 3 - Vertebrates.

FARM B = (F)ish, (A)mphibians, (R)eptiles, (M)ammals, (B)irds.

Example 4 - Roman numerals**.

Lucy Can't Drink Milk = (L) 50, (C) 100, (D) 500, (M) 1000.

Example 5 - Agebraic expressions.

Bless My Dear Aunt Sally = (B)rackets, (M)ultiplication, (D)ivision, (A)ddition, (S)ubtraction.

* I know, Pluto is not a planet anymore!

** Only the larger numbers are indicated.

One of the above examples is relevant to finding this cache. Everything you need to find the cache is on this page.
