Geocache Description:

This is a traditional cache hidden in the trees along the Row de Dow on the edge of Wootton Bassett. There is a First to Find Pin Badge in the cache and a Travel Bug. Parking Co-ordinates N51.33.075 W001.54.108 is for Lucerne Close.

At Lucerne Close there is enough parking for a couple of cars without upsetting the local residents. You may have done The Hidden Lake GCYGQ5 and could continue on to this cache by walking to the other side of Jubilee Lake and taking a path up to Lucerne Close.
Please note that you cannot go through Red Lodge as it is private land and you have to follow the footpath which skirts around the back of the lodge. It can become a bit wet and muddy in places, especially after it has been raining, so it’s a good idea to wear wellies.

You will walk past Wootton Bassett Schools’ football pitch (School was opened 2002 by HRH Princess Anne) and will have to make your way up to the Row de Dow.
The Row de Dow is a path that runs from Wood Street to Jubilee Lake. There are differing opinions how this unusual name came into being. Apparently it is a classic example of how the English have difficulty in pronouncing French phrases. It is probably a corruption of Rue de Dieu (God’s Path). There are views of The Vale of Dauntsey and the always busy M4 motorway from the path.
Watch out for muggles walking their dogs.
