Geocache Description:

Take a short hike down the road.

I have been to this area several times in the fall picking winter berries for Christmas window boxes. Until today I had not taken the time to walk down the snowmobile trail/road past the power lines.

It is a short trip about .31 miles from the gate to the cache location. There is nothing very significant about the hike other than it is peaceful, easy, and will give you some exercise. Since there were no ice fishing geocaches this weekend, as I get over the cold, this seemed a nice way to get out and get some exercise.

This is a very active area that is used by snowmobiles and ATVs. Hunting also occurs in this area in the fall. Please dress appropriately and use caution.

Cache: The cache is a small dry case with pencil and log. Sorry, no FTF prize in this one. If you take the time to walk down to the “Further Down the Way a Piece” cache (GC1N05D) you might be lucky and find a FTF prize.

Directions: Turn off RTE 25 into the Gorham Industrial Park. You will want to take a right on to Hutcherson Drive. At the very end of the road is a gate. Pull off the road as far as you can on to the shoulder. I have listed the gate coordinates for reference. Do not block the gate!

You can walk around the gate on to the trail/road. The road is currently plowed (2/21/09) to the power lines. After the power lines the road becomes a snowmobile trail which is currently packed down enough to walk on without snowshoes. If we get some new snow you may want to bring your snowshoes.

Good luck!
