claybol: Unfortunately the location where the cache was hidden has completely changed and I'm unable to replicate the original hide so I'll have to archive it. This was one of Romax's best hides so it's truly sad to let it go. Thanks to all who found it over many years and a special thanks to those who awarded it a favorite point. It truly was an iconic cache while it lasted and it was a pleasure to adopt it from Romax.

Geocache Description:


The posted co-ordinates will find you at the main entrance to the Tom Flood Sports Centre, where you will be looking for a small item holding the numbers required to find wpt 1. At wpt 1 you will be seeking a similar device, hidden in a like manner, with numbers that will direct you to wpt 2. Wpt 2 contains further information you will need, to make your way to GZ, where you will be searching for a 300ml camouflagued container holding the usual log book, pen, and small items suitable for swapping, if required. This centre is home to the Bendigo International Madison which, at time of writing, is reputed to be the largest cycling athletic carnival in the world and held annually on labour day holiday weekend in March, a time definitely not recommended for searching. The stated difficulty level will fluctuate considerably at other times as there are regular training sessions, cycling events held periodically, other organisations use facilities at this venue and it is also an arrival and departure point for school children who are bussed in daily from surrounding communities. Very busy times for this event are around 8.00 to 9.00am and 3.00 to 4.00pm on schooldays! Although this facility is open free to the public most times, with the exception of the major event featured above, and possibly special events we are not aware of at this time, where an entry fee could be applicable. Due to the busy nature of this venue we have added some hints, as much to maintain the integrity of our hide, as to assist your search! Please note that all points are hidden above ground level, there is no need to search amongst the leaf litter or pass any locked gates!
