Small lock and lock on wee hill
This cache has been set for The Lang Spoon Stirs Again Event and is not loggable until 3rd April 2009.
The cache is set just to the N/E of the site and grounds of Lochore House. This was once part of the Lochore Estate and during its life was occupied by management of the Fife Coal Company. The house lay vacant in a state of disrepair for many years. I remember in the early 80’s a local gala being held in the grounds of the “White House” as we all called it. It was rumoured to be haunted by the “White Lady” who would ride in the grounds on horseback (I assume the horse too was a ghost).
In 1996 a local man set fire to the building and it had to be demolished. The walls of the grounds and the ruins of some outbuildings are still present. As can be seen, now the only thing to haunt the grounds is the shell of many a stolen and burnt out car.
It still offers a great view of the "Meadies" and the winding gear.
