Geocache Description:


Cache is part of the "Cartoon Cache Series" released for the "Rippin 'Round the Red: Looney Toons Poker Run" event, May 2009.

The cache is located just off a red dirt road that is not maintained during the winter and may be muddy in the spring and after rain. No bushwacking is required.

PIG PEN (the "dust magnet") (see link (visit link)

"Pig Pen", a nick-named character in Charles Schulz's "Peanuts", first appeared in 1954. His "real" name was never mentioned.

"Pig Pen" is known for the cloud of dirt and dust that follows him wherever he goes. When he's take a deep breath, the dust would briefly rise around him. He'd sometimes refer to the cloud of dust that surrounded him with pride as the "dust of ancient civilizations". No matter what, he cannot seem to rid himself of the dust for more than the briefest of periods -- he cannot stay clean. The "ultimate cache cammo!"

"Pig Pen" was found to be the 5th most popular "Peanuts" character, but only Charlie Brown unconditionally accepted "Pig Pen" for who he was, even defending his uncleanliness:

"Don't think of it as dust. Just think of it as the dirt and dust of far-off lands blowing over here and settling on "Pig Pen"! It staggers the imagination! He may be carrying the soil that was trod upon by Solomn or Nebuchadezzar or Ghengis Khan!"

"Pig Pen" was referred to as the "only person who can get dirty while walking in a snow storm"!
