A cache placed for GeoStomp 09.

St. Peter's Anglican Church was built in 1926 by Hewitt Bostock, a local pioneer and rancher. He came to BC in 1888 and in 1896 he was elected as Federal MP for the District. In 1903, he was appointed as a Senator and made Speaker of the House in 1922 up until his death in 1930. He built the church as a memorial to his son who was killed in action in World War One. The land and cemetary was deeded to the Anglican Diocese of Kootenay in 1931. The Reverend George Stewart became the first vicar in 1926. the stained glass windows in the rear of the church are in memory of his wife who died in 1933. There are plaques on the interior of the church and new stained glass windows on the front in memory of prominent partitioners and rectors. When the Trans Canada Highway was widened, the church was preserved by rerouting the road around the butte on which the church sits. will be chosen when spring arrives.
