Geocache Description:

Plenty of parking, level terrain, Scenic area.

You are on the Tennessee Ridge. Running North to South, roughly, it divides the watershed, in this part of the state. To the North and West, the water flows down into the Stones River, and eventually into the Cumberland River, the Ohio, and finally into the Mississippi. To the South and East, the water flows into the Duck River, the Tennessee, the Ohio and finally into the Mississippi.
The small road crossing here, is part of the Nickajack Trace. In the late 1700s, if you were traveling from the Chattanooga and Ross Landing area, to Nashville (Ft. Nashboro), you would have traveled this road. About 2 miles South of this point, a small fort, Ft.. Nash, was built along the road, around 1793. Its purpose was to help protect the area from the Indians, who were still quite common, locally.
Be sure to check out the scenic views just below you, while looking for a small plastic container. It contains log only, so BYOP. Room for a few very small trade items.
