Geocache Description:

This is a micro placed at the very edge of a cemetery. Very flat terrain. Pretty much a quick park and grab if the ground isn't wet. As this is at the outskirts a cemetery please use discretion while at the location.

This cache is very near the resting place of my Father In-Law, the Reverend Leo W. Timms. He passed away on Dec. 28, 2004.

Over the years he served as a Baptist Minister at the Polkville First Baptist Church in Polkville,MS, Lakeshore Baptist Church in Jackson,MS, and the nearby Gunnison Baptist Church in Gunnison,MS. He also worked as a Chaplain and Drug and Alcohol counselor at Parchman Penitentiary. In his later years as minister for Gunnison Baptist Church he also served as a Chaplain for Genesis Hospice Care. He was deeply moved by the death of each person he ministered to as a hospice minister, but truly enjoyed having a positive impact on their lives.

He also served in the Navy during the Korean War. One of my favorite stories to hear Leo tell came from this time of his life. He was torn between turning his life over to Christ and continuing to be a hellion as a sailor on leave. He prayed about this and told the Lord that he would have one final wild night in Pearl Harbor and then turn his life over to him. He awoke the next day to find that some Marines he had been in a bar with had "assisted" him in getting a Marine Corp tattoo on his forearm. You can only imagine how well this went over for a Navy man. He loved to use this as an example of how putting off the decision to turn your life over to Christ can cost you. He told this many times in sermons and conversation.

He left behind 4 daughters, one of whom is my wonderful wife Carol, and 8 grand children.

For all the good works he did while he was with us, as well as for those he left behind, I wanted to create a cache here as a tribute to him and his life.

Leo's grave site is approximately 40-50 feet due South of the cache if you'd like to stop by and pay your respects.

We miss you Leo!

Congrats to TrkDoc on FTF. I had actually lost the coords after placing this and he dropped by and got a reading on them for me. He found this one a little more like a letter box using directions I gave him! Anyway, thanks to TrkDoc for all the help. I don't know when/if this would have been published if he had not helped me out!
