burkesf27 aka sfb: Sorry to say that the stage one was muggeled by an authority figure so into the archive list it goes. I'll try again next year to make it new and improved

How Geocaching Works

Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions in our disclaimer.

Geocache Description:

Make careful note of the name and heed warning found at first stage. You WILL get wet searching for this one. In case of inclement weather, try for later.

Bring your boat, canoe, kayak or wave runner to the two stages.

This cache is only in operation from around Mother's Day to Labor Day. Searching prior to or after these dates will only result in frustration. Watch for closed for the season notice.

Fishermen on this lake know the joys of walleye and carp, as well as the occasional snapping turtle found nearby. Those who try for this one on the Fourth of July will be treated to a noon boat parade often led by the Eden Prairie Fire Department's pumper boat. Who knew Eden Prairie even had a pumper?

While not an Acro per se, you WILL need your swimming suit and a swim mask for the first stage. Coordinates for the final are provided in stage one. To make the find of Stage One, go Man Overboard at the listed coordinates and proceed down until you find a float anchored to the bottom. Retrieve the non anchored end of the line and return to the surface to get the coordinates to the final.(The depth of the lake at stage one is approximately five feet)

Reminder - you need to have a way to get back in your geo-water craft after making find of stage one. This cache may be a two person operation.

The final is more easily found if you're wading in the lake. I know that you're wet and refreshed from stage one but try to keep log dry when signing.

Both lake and shoreline are infected with Eurasian milfoil, so check your watercraft and between your toes when leaving. Eden Prairie Parks usually has someone checking at the public access during the summer for milfoil hitchhikers.

Cachers must bring a PFD (Personal Flotation Devices); be aware that both the Carver County and Hennepin County Water Patrols are frequently on this lake checking for expired boat registrations and other boating violations.

The best parking is at the public access to the lake located on the Eden Prairie side. The park has picnic areas, toilets, a swimming area with lifeguards and a few other caches nearby. Plan to spend some time at the park to celebrate after making the find.

If you go for this one and find someone sitting on a nearby dock watching - it's probably the cache owner. Remember to wave.

Started off with a few TBs and coins.

Annual FTF Honors are available. Please check to be sure that you have this year's stage one coords. They change year to year like the shifting tides .

2009 - water temp when placed 58 chilly degrees
2009 - FTF Hal-oween

2010 - Placed on Memorial Day - 76 degrees

Pictures of cachers searching always welcome.
