Geocache Description:

The Putnam County Cache Quest

The Cache

Enjoy the soft sounds of Coffee Creek as it flows under you. This bridge was built in 1989 and resurfaced sometime in the 90's. The plaque is in a hard to read place, see if you can spot it. There is no need to go under the bridge.

The Quest

The Putnam County Cache Quest is a chance for cachers to visit the smallest of all Illinois counties, Putnam. Enjoy touring the small towns and country side of this hidden county. With only two caches in the entire county, the county challenge can be very difficult. Why not bring out important points in a nice little area?

Putnam County is the smallest county of the U.S. state of Illinois. As of 2000, the population is 6,086. The county was formed in 1825 out of Fulton County. It is named after Israel Putnam, who was a general in the American Revolution. The county seat is Hennepin, Illinois.
