Geocache Description:

This is part of a series of caches in the Poole/Broadstone area based upon areas with lakes, ponds and puddles! Some are places that most people will be aware of and then there will be those that even we, before Google Earthing, were completely oblivious of!

Due to the nature of the location of these caches, we do stress to keep a good eye on your children whilst they are near the waters edge. Saying this, a lot of these ponds give you the opportunity to feed the ducks and swans, so plenty of fun to be had – but be safe!

LT#4 is an area not really visited by our family in the past, however driven by so many times when visiting salubrious places such as the local tip, Toys'R'Us and Lidl!

Hatch Pond lies to the north of Poole within the Nuffield Industrial Estate. It is a balancing pond which receives surface water drainage from the North Canford Heath area. This area is made up of heath, bog, woodland plantation and grasslands and if full of wildlife. For this reason it has limited access around the waters edge and therefore only encourages people to view from the roadside edges of the pond avoiding the western edge.

Whilst setting this cache I saw moorhens, swans, cormorants , mallards and a heron but there are even more species to view so well worth a visit with the family. There are plenty of benches and viewing platforms and a handy information board to let you know what you are seeing. (see pics)

Parking is found on the Stinsford Road - one side having double yellow lines. The ground is quite flat where you need to go so it is possible to be accessed by all.

You are looking for a small cache box with the usual goodies inside. Please replace in the same place so that it is not seen by passers-by as it is very close to the path.

Wheelchair accessible until last metre! You will need a hand with the grab!

Remember to take your camera to document your visit and the area (but not the actual cache!) and add it to our page.

A clue is below, however further clues can be gained by emailing us directly once logging a ‘dnf’. It is relatively easy if you are looking in the right place!
