Geocache Description:

A stand alone cache in the York Micro Series. 35mm container

The cache is located near the South West corner of the York City Walls. This wall section runs from Micklegate Bar to the River Ouse and goes over Victoria Bar which was opened in 1838 because of the increased population in the Nunnery Lane area.

The inscription above the central arch reads: ‘Victoria Bar, erected by public subscription under the direction of the city commissioners. AD 1838 George Hudson Esq. Lord Mayor’.

You can not access this cache from the City Wall.
