A stand alone cache in the York Micro Series. 35mm
container
This cache is located just outside the boundary of St Denys
Church.
St Denys was built on the site of a Saxon church and possibly a
Roman temple, this small mediaeval church was first recorded in
c.1154. Its unassuming exterior belies the fine collection of
mediaeval stained glass, including the earliest in York, which
illuminates the interior. A sculpted Norman doorway and a 15th
century heraldic roof are also worthy of note. One of only about 40
English churches dedicated to St Denys, whose figure can be seen in
the 15th century east window.
Do enter the church grounds the cache is on the outside of the
boundary and can be reached from the pavement.
