Geocache Description:

the cache is klip and lock small box containing a log book and pen the cache is half mile from car park please keep to foot paths

the cach is near to cairness house. cairness was buit in the 1790 by charies gordon of cairness and buthlaw as the heart of a 9,00-acre estate. the loch of strathbeg .today an important RSPB nature reserve, was once part of the cairness esate.

there already was a fortified house here since the 17th century.This evolved into a mansion of smaller size designed by Robert Burns in the 1780s which was adapted very shortly, afterwards into the house we see today
