After numerous mugglings, we hope we're finally out of the woods. While remaining in the general vicinity, the cache is now in plain sight . So, put your STEALTH on because time is a wasting. Please be kind and replace the cache as found. Thanks!
The Presbyterian Church, from which the battle cry "Give 'em Watts, boys" was uttered by the Reverend James Caldwell during the Battle of Springfield in 1870, is the centerpiece of downtown Springfield. The little known, but extremely critical, Battle of Springfield was one of the last of many battles of the American Revolutionary War to be fought in New Jersey.
The most recent talk around town designates the shopping district along Morris Avenue as “downtown.” But, others include the adjacent Mountain Avenue government buildings and shopping area just beyond the new fire station. Strolling along Morris Avenue you’ll find an eclectic array of eateries. As you turn onto Mountain Avenue, you’ll come across a Revolutionary War cemetery, town hall, and in the spring and summer, flowers along the bridge rails of Van Winkles Brook planted by the local garden club.
