We've long been intrigued by the Milford and Manchester Railroad that was only in use for a few short years so we've created a series of caches along the old railbed.
The co-ordinates above are for the first waypoint.
This cache is placed at the site of the old railroad bed in Amherst, NH as it runs along Beaver Brook.The brook lives up to its name as beavers have been busy next to the GZ. There are some nice views from the railroad bed.
I suggest that you park at the parking waypoint on Route 122. From the parking waypoint follow a dirt bike trail (entrance parallel to end of guardrail) walking parallel to Route 101 so that you aren't walking on private land until you get to the Trailhead waypoint. From the Trailhead waypoint you can follow the old railroad bed to the first waypoint.
The terrain difficulty is for the stretch from the parking to the old railroad bed. The old railroad bed is flat.
There are no homes at WP1 or at the GZ but if you're searching for this at night there is at least one home within about 300 feet of the railbed so be careful with flashlights. It is a pretty walk during the day so I suggest you wait until you can see your surroundings.
