ROTSIP: As there's been no cache to find for months, I'm archiving it to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements. Geocache Description:

An easy 10min walk on a two strip gravel road to the old Hydro power station in the Great Brak River gorge

This is one of a few caches placed to celebrate the historic sites of Great Brak River.

In 1924 the Searle family established this Hydro Power station in order to generate electricity for their shoe factory. It also supplied the first electricity to the town of Great Brak River. The station fell in disrepair around 1990 but was restored to its former condition and re-commisioned in 2004. Official tours can be arranged through the museum.

The Boltons shoe factory still exists today and is one of the main labour employers in the town. They are the manufactures of the truely South African brand Watsons', Grasshoppers.

Look out for the sign board to "Wolwedans Hiking trail" on your left at the last houses (on the tar road before the start of the gravel). Park on the lawn, enter through the gate and follow the two strip dirt road along the river.

This is the start of the Wolwedans dam hiking trail. A 3km hike up the gorge would bring you to the foot of the huge concrete dam wall. This dam was build as the main water supply to the Petro SA fuel refinery just West of Mosselbay.

This site needs a soldier to protect it! Please help.
