Geocache Description:

Located in one of the back streets in Winchester city centre. Parking on street is for permit holders only 08:00 to 18:00 Monday to Saurday, there is a car park nearby. Please be respectfull of local residents.

The Time At The Bar series will take you around the centre of Winchester to visit some of the gone and forgotten public houses that ceased trading long ago.

There will hopefully be 8 caches when the series is complete

The caches can all be done on a pleasant walk in one day in good weather or on their own.

If you would like to learn a little more about Winchesters forgotten history, have a go at GC1279A which is a mystry cache created by Juggles.

Number 101 used to be The Masons Arms which ceased trading in 1924. The pub was possibley named after the stonemasons who built the cathedrial.

The High Street end was a slum area that was redoveloped in the 1960's and replaced by the council offices and a hotel where The Royal Standard once stood.
