GPS 1 : Oak Grove Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

sloughfoot: It is unclear what the county and DNR are going to make of this property. With all of the target shooting going on and no clear backstop we feel it is unsafe at this point and are going to archive the series.

Geocache Description:

GPS in this case stands for GravelPitSeries. There will be several in this series that all have something to do with a Gravel Pit. They may not all be in the same area. There will be 7 caches in this general area, check your GPS before returning to the car.

From recommended parking area it is about a .22mi hike each way to the cache. You will be using deer trails with some slight overgrowth. In the summer there will be some berry bushes so dress accordingly. There are elevation changes from slight to steep depending on the route that you choose. I recommend going straight west from the parking area and following around the base of the gravel hills.

The best place to park is N43 31.130 W89 24.414

Alternate Parking N43 31.141 W89 24.268

This is DNR Public Hunting Grounds so use orange when appropriate. If someone is using the space when you arrive on the scene please be polite and give way to them.

This gravel pit is sometimes used for target practice. You do not need to go onto the range to score these caches.

The geocache placement notification form has been sent to Sara Kehri at the Poynette DNR Service Center.
