Big Orange Traditional Cache

The building to the North of you was the Anaheim Orange and Lemon Association packing house. It was built in March 1919 at a cost of $40,000. Note the mission style front with the big orange on the wall. The building was made of concrete which differed from the wood construction used in most packing plants. The roof is a unique saw-tooth design which allows light in but not direct sunlight. The railroad tracks to the South were used to ship large quantities of oranges and lemons to all points in the United States and into Canada as well. The building is currently being used as a food court with many interesting places to eat. To the North is the historic Packard Automobile Dealership. It now houses the Anaheim Brewery and has a gourmet hamburger joint. In between the packing house and the Packard building is a plaza where many events take place, including a farmers market on Sunday. Parking will be a problem during business hours.
