Geocache Description:

Another in the Black Diamond series about coal mining in the East Neuk of Fife.

The Outlet Pit lay in the north of the Largoward field and was probably sunk in the 1890s to work the Thick Coal.
The Outlet Pit lay close to Brown's Coal Park Pit which incorporated a stone mine which was also likely worked from the Outlet Pit.
This was a fairly shallow pit (only 45 ft. deep) and was likely the main shaft for the old workings in the Top Coal of the Thick Coal seam.

Layby for parking very close to cache site.
