Cache is NOT located at an I-5 rest stop. You won't find food here, unless you hunt it yourself, nor gas. You can find some rest here... a nice spot to relax away from the madding crowds. The "2" difficulty relates to being somewhat out of the way and possibly difficult to get to during rain.
For I-5 Travelers - this is NOT really a quick stop and find cache, although it is not difficult. It's about a mile off I-5. Figure at least 15 minutes to exit I-5, find the cache, and be back on I-5.
This cache is near the Arroyo De Cantua, very near the spot where the infamous Joaquin Murietta met his demise. The mountain 3 Rocks looms over the sight... long thought to be the hiding place for the Gold that Joaquin Murietta had taken from the Gold Miners in Ca... some say he was a "Robin Hood", others say he was merely a thief.
As the crow flies the Ghost Town New Idria is not far away, but if you tried to drive there it would take hours. The foothills you can see from here are some of the most rugged on earth.
This section of Highway 33 became rather redundant when I-5 opened. It is seldom traveled other than by the workers who tend the crops grown in this area.
This is a spot where you can truly say not many will tread, even though quite easy to reach.
