Geocache Description:

Log only BYOP

"From 1959 to 1990, English suffered six floods. The town council decided that the only solution to the flooding problem was to move the town. 160 acres (0.6 km²) of high ground were purchased, a partnership was formed with Lincoln Hills Development Corporation, and the entire town was relocated. This was the second-largest relocation of an entire town in U.S. history." source--Wikipedia

Most of the area at the bottom of the hill is now a golf course. Scattered about you will see concrete building pads for homes, roads that appear to go nowhere (were razed for the golf course), and statues in the middle of the golf course. One can only imagine that if you were lucky enough to have "survived" the floods that it was probably quite a daunting task to pack up the life you had known for many years and head up the hill. It is quite a sight to see statues that probably once stood in front of a court or other municipal building abandoned at the edge of a golf course.
