A cache just off the trail on the ridge-line west of the peak. Be alert for bikers on this fairly narrow trail.
Due east of this cache is Van Dam Peak which lends its name to the area of undeveloped land surrounding it. It is named for either Edward Van Dam, a former county superintendent of roads, or for former Poway teacher Mary Van Dam. Or maybe both... What we can know for certainty is that the view is swell from the top. The cache, however, is not at the top. While I might crawl under a fence here or there on occasion, I would hesitate to encourage others to do likewise; so I can't recommend going to the summit from here. Enjoy the great view from here of the city of Poway to the east and the ocean to the west.
The cache is a barely camo-ed pill bottle. Please hide it well.
