This cache has been archived.

LavaLizard: As there's been no cache to find for months, I'm archiving it to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements. If you wish to repair/replace the cache sometime in the future, just contact us (by email), and assuming it meets the guidelines, we'll be happy to unarchive it.

Geocache Description:

Polyvinyl chloride has been in production for 50 years. It was first made in Germany in the 1930s. It was not until the early 1940s when it was mixed with organic liquids called plasticizers that created broader uses of the material. That process produced a flexible material that could be used as a rubber substitute. The early commercial success placed an emphasis on developing cheap processes for the production of this family of materials in countries where natural rubber material was not available.

It was discovered that PVC/plasticizer mixtures could be used for a wide range of applications like raincoats, cable coverings, fabric coatings and geocache containers.

In order to successfully appreciate the PVC application at this location, you must add water.
