Celebrities fascinate people. Powered by a media juggernaut, following celebrities is one of our national pastimes. It's a little wasteful, if you ask me. But guess what? It's even more intense in Europe! After all, the word paparazzi comes from--you guessed it--Italy.

Now, it's amusing when two spoiled celebrities with an awkward history are photographed at the same event. Sometimes, those candid, uncomfortable photos make me smile. Otherwise, I can't be bothered...I'd rather go hide a geocache.

Recently, my sister-in-law had a chance to attend a real Hollywood party, and she was thrilled. She sent me this note:

Never before had I seen such an array of Celebrities all in one room--the Stars were out tonight! Tom Sizemore was talking with Betty Buckley. Those two had quite a connection! Baseball fan Dave Letterman spent a lot of the evening talking with Francisco Rodriguez. At the end of the evening, the Mets star gave the talk show host an autographed hat!

Wow--the music was hot! played "1999." U2 blasted out "In the Name of Love," and M played "Pop Music." Other entertainers were there, sometimes in outrageous garments. The most garishly dressed was Brandy. I have a photo of her standing with Spike Lee and Mary Tyler Moore. You should have been there!
