Cache has been place with permissions of the Wicomico Recreation and Park Department and by the Pemberton Historical Society. Pemberton Park offers the opportunity to hike 4.5 miles of natural trails, appreciate the beauty of nature, and study the history of the area. The plantation was one of the first established in Wicomico County and its present owner, Pemberton Hall Foundation, has restored the Hall. Take a moment to enjoy this beautiful park. www.pembertionpark.org
A Brief history Bell Island, it used to be known as “The Commons” and was used by the Handy family as a pasture for their cattle. It was sparsely forested. In the 19th century the icehouse for the plantation was located on this island. The trail has many opportunities to see wildlife such as deer or maybe even a bald eagle. The overlook at the marsh and on the riverfront is an excellent place to stop and take a rest and really take in all the sights and sounds of the wetlands and the Wicomico River.
The cache you seek is a Rubbermaid container that contains a logbook and pen and a couple of trade items. The cache is about a one mile hike round trip. Please be sure to replace cache as you found it.
Keep in mind that the park is open from Sunrise to Sunset.
Be sure to find the other three caches in this four cache series at this beautiful park
