Seabranch Preserve State Park is located just south of Port Salerno, on Hwy A1A. This preserve has several different natural communities in a relatively short distance. In less than one mile, one can see rare sand pine scrub, scrubby flatwoods, a baygall community, and a mangrove swamp. Hikers can explore these natural communities over five miles of trails. Florida Scrub Jay and Pileated Woodpecker are among the many bird species found here.
Recently the Park staff have set many controlled burns, to rejuvenate the plant life and eliminate the piles of tinder. It's amazing how quickly the plant life returns; it seems to only take a few days before green sprouts are showing.
The cache is a 35 mm canister so BYOP. Please just write the date and your initials in the log.
There are several other caches in this park as well. Bring water.
Congrats to Zeke, Rnrgrl and Froggy Girl for FTF!!
