David B. Waymer Aeromodeler Flying Field is located in
Huntersville, NC. at the end of Holbrooks Rd. Most weekends, if the
weather is good, you can find local remote control airplane pilots
flying their planes and helicopters. The public is welcome to watch
the pilots fly, but you are required to have a "park pass" if you
want to fly there yourself (details are posted on the bulletin
board near the covered picnic tables). Please observe the posted
rules located at the field. This field is open dusk to dawn only.
If you find the gate to the park locked during the day, you can
park at the entrance and walk the rest of the way. Just make sure
not to block the entrance gate. The cache is located just off the
SW corner of the parking lot, down a small embankment. It is large
enough for trackables and small toys and trinkets. I included a
couple of airplane related items to start off with. So after you
find the cache, stick around and watch the fun for a while.
Remember, what goes up must come down and sometimes it doesn't
exactly happen the way the pilot intends it to. ;-)
