I Västergötland är hällristningsområdet vid Flyhov det i särklass största och figurrikaste. Totalt finns närmare femhundra figurer och tecken inristade.
1889 upptäcktes ristningen Yxguden av två vallpojkar som rev bort några grästorvor och såg en människofigur med svärd och en stor yxa i ena handen. Yxans form visar att ristningen är från bronsålderns mitt, kring 1000 f Kr.
Stenytan har sedan genom åren avtäckts och fler figurer
kommit i dagen. Den mest komplicerade ytan på Flyhov är Nätverket. Den ser från början ut att ha föreställt skepp, fotsulor och cirkelkors, som sedan utvidgats och förvrängts med andra figurer.
The rock-carving area of Flyhov is the most outstanding site in Västergötland. It contains almost 500 figures and symbols.
The carving the Axegod was discovered in 1889 by two boys who ripped of turf from the rock and saw a human figure with a sword and a big axe in his hand. The shape of the axe places the carving in the middle of the Scandinavian Brons Age, about 1000 BC.
The rock surface has through the years been uncovered and more figures have come to see the light of day. The most complicated surface on the site is the Net. From the beginning it seems to have been ships, foot soles and circle crosses, which have been extended and distorted by adding other figures.
