Riverland Drive-In Cinema
The Riverland drive-in is situated on the shores of Lake Bonney in the riverland district of South Australia. Formally built and operated by Wallis drive-in theatres it opened in 1962. It was closed by Wallis in 1988. The drive-in was then purchased and re-opened in 1991 by Dave Waterman. It was then operated by Kevin Williams until 2008 when it was closed for good.
According to my local Bamera friend. Many virgins were popped in this facility and good percentage of the local population may have been conceived on the site. This drive-in captures the spirit of outdoor movies in desert Australia. I am sure many locals took in the free view from the back fence.
