Geocache Description:

This is the first in the Blackford County Cemetery Series (BCCS)

GOGHNAUER CEMETARY A grassy lane between corn fields leads to Goghnauer Cemetary, in the northwest part of the township. The Pennville Pike once ran diagonally across the section and the cemetery lay on the south side of the road. The burial plot was deeded to the county by Samuel and Catherine Goghnauer whose beloved daughter, Eliza, wife of David Hughes died at age twenty-two and was buried there long before the parents. Two Civil War markers indicate the graves of James C.P. Hobson, 1844-1888, a member of Company I, 138th Regiment, Indiana infantry, and Ira M. Keeler, 1834-1911, a member of Company E, 38th Regiment, Indiana Infantry. Two of the earliest markers tell the tragedy which befell P. and S. Willman whose son Henry died November 3, 1850, age two years and eleven months, and five days later on Novemebr 8, 1850, their son Jonas, aged 9 months, also died. Some other names in the cemetery are Cale, Leffingwell, Emshwiller, Ashbaugh, Heminger, Schmidt, Koegel, Kleefisch, and Heiser The entry to this cemetery is a grass lane that enters from the west. I would not attempt driving back to the cemetery unless you are in a truck. Parking is available at the end of the grass lane along cr 300E. If you walk back from the road the cemetery is .17 mile. The Cache is a small rubbermaid container big enough for small trade items. This cache is not located on or near any graves. NO NIGHT CACHING. You will need your own pen.
